Calling all coffee lovers! If you’re in Leicester then there’s a new independent cafe that you’re going to want to hear about. Based on Charles Street, the charming Cafe Conexion is looking to get famous for the fact that the coffee that they serve, is roasted right there on the premises.
The coffee is all single origin, 100 percent Arabica and it’s sourced from Columbia, Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia, directly from the farmers themselves. You can also be safe in the knowledge that your coffee is not only high quality, but also fresh, as the cafe uses it within 48 hours of being roasted.
Along with amazing coffee, Cafe Conexion is also hoping to appeal to a diverse range of people by serving coconut, soya, almond and oat milk. And for those of you with a sweet tooth, there’ll be plenty of treats to choose from, including cakes and pop waffles.
The cafe has been launched by three friends who are all passionate and knowledgeable about coffee. In opening it, they are hoping to provide a place where fellow coffee lovers can relax and enjoy a freshly roasted drink.
Two of the cafe owners, Brandon Walton and Ivan Mengual, met at Leicester College, and shared a desire to start a business (as they were both studying business and marketing at the time). They also shared interests in coffee and travel, so they launched a coffee roasting company in 2016.
Once that started to take off, the duo were joined by friend, Oscar Moveno, who helped them open them own coffee shop, following the success of their supply business.
Putting their own stamp on the Leicester venue, the trio have refurbished and created a cosy cafe with a rustic style. Think exposed brick wall, lots of hessian coffee sacks and plants hanging from the ceiling. The guys even made the tables themselves out of tree trunks, and hand painted a diagram of the coffee-making process on the wall.
Cafe Conexion is open Monday to Friday 9.30am until 6pm, and on Saturday 10am until 6pm. Be sure to follow them on Snizl for updates, deals and competitions.
