The Best Student Deals… Bars & Pubs

What’s the best thing about being a student…? New friends? Care free mid-week nights out? The… education? Nope.

It’s the discounts.

If you’re lucky enough to hold an elusive “NUS card” read on: we’re going to show you just some of the very best deals that are ready and waiting for you to take advantage of right here in Nottingham. But first, let’s start with the important stuff…

Bars and Pubs

The Orange Tree

Shakespeare Street student haunt The Orange Tree is a “laidback boozer” with a trendy and kind-of-upmarket but not-so-upmarket you’d feel out of place in a t-shirt type vibe. They also have lots of offers on throughout the week.

Happy Hour takes place between 8 and 10pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and all day on Sundays and Tuesdays. Cocktails are 241 (making them £3 each) and there’s offers on wine and beer, too. Students can also take advantage of their topped fries rounded off with a pint of beer or cider deal – it’s just a fiver.

Student card needed? For happy hour, no. For fries and beer, yes.

Bodega

The Bodega Social is a key venue in Nottingham for up and coming artists (the ground floor bar is always open for drinks but upstairs is held back for gigs and club nights). More importantly, it’s a great place for budget boozing.

Happy Hour runs 4 til 7 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 4 til 9 on Fridays and ALL NIGHT on Mondays. Better yet, you can choose from loads of drinks. Wine bottles are £8, pints or bottles start from just £2 and cocktails are 2 for £7.

Rescue Rooms

Another gig/club/drinks bar (this one does food, too) located by (and attached to – they’re all interlinked) sister venues Rock City and Stealth. Happy Hour runs every day between 4 and 7 and all day on Mondays, and just like Bodgea, the choice is huge.

Fat Cats

The Fat Cat Café Bar (not to be confused with Fat Cat in Sherwood) is a large bar/restaurant with the bar and a casual dining area on the ground floor, and a more formal “restaurant” vibe going on upstairs. Offers include 241 cocktails all day every day, 50% off food all day every day (students only) and 50% off food and selected drinks (for everyone) on Sundays.

Student card needed? No for 241 cocktails and Sunday offers, yes for 50% off food all day every day.

Spanky Van Dykes

Eatery and late night bar “Spanky’s” is well-known among student circles for their tasty yet affordable food, relaxed atmosphere, and weekly quiz nights. Head there on Tuesdays and all burgers are 241. Take a friend or have two to yourself. We won’t judge.

Student card needed? No

Revolution

Vodka and cocktail specialists Revolution have two venues in Nottingham (plus a newly-opened branch of their Cuban chain – Revolucion de Cuba ) – one in the Cornerhouse complex, and another on Broad Street in Hockley. Both venues offer 50% off their full menu all day on Mondays.

The Slug and Lettuce

Next door to the Cornerhouse Revolution you’ll find The Slug and Lettuce, another food and drinks venue offering 50% off food on Mondays and regular 241 offers on cocktails.
