To help you and your four-legged friend find a safe haven from the winter weather, we’ve compiled this list of our favourite independent dog friendly venues in Nottingham that love dogs as much as we do.
When the weather is cold and miserable it’s not much fun taking the dog out. There is only so much walking you can do, and no one wants to sit outside in the rain, but this doesn’t mean you have to leave your pooch at home.
1. The Malt Cross
The Malt Cross is one of our favourite places to hang out, so we were overjoyed when we found dogs are invited in too. Situated in a beautifully restored Victorian music hall, it provides an unusual setting for laid-back breakfasts, delicious lunches and long lazy afternoons.
Things can get quite busy in the evening, especially if they have a band playing, so you might want to leave your pooch at home then.
2. Outpost Coffee
A haven for any coffee lover, Outpost Coffee is a not only a fantastic café in Nottingham city centre, but the team there also roasts and sells their own coffee. They even have a subscription service so you can keep the coffee flowing at home.
Why we particularly love Outpost though, is its café is as pet-loving as we are, so you can enjoy the perfect cuppa, with the perfect company.
3. The Crafty Crow
The Crafty Crow is another of our favourite city centre haunts. Sitting directly opposite the entrance to the famed Nottingham Castle, this pub boasts having 24 beers and ciders on tap at any one time.
Enough for Robin Hood and all his Merry Men to each find a favourite. Its menu is packed with dishes that have each been given their own unique twist, and range from tempting bar snacks, through to belly-busting meals.
4. Lincolnshire Poacher
Nestled among the eclectic assortment of shops on Mansfield Road in the outskirts of the city centre, the Lincolnshire Poacher has been a destination for real ale lovers since before the scene took off.
Inside the décor is the epitome of a traditional boozer and hidden out the back is a huge walled garden. Dogs are welcome throughout, and are a common sight nestled among the tables.
5. The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen
Its close proximity to Wollaton Park makes The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen the ideal stop-off after a long walk.
An open fire and comfortable seating means you can happily spend the evening having a drink with friends and while the menu could be classed as traditional pub grub, the food is absolutely top notch.
Dogs are only allowed in the bar area, but it’s large so you’ll find plenty of room.
6. Bread and Bitter
The fact it has a jar of dog biscuits on the end of the bar shows just how welcome dogs are at the Bread and Bitter in Mapperley.
A wide range of drinks, including 11 real ales, and delicious food, mean it is all too easy to spend hours tucked away in one of the many corners of this traditional pub. It even has a selection of board games you can help yourself to if you need something to help pass the time.
On a Sunday it does some of the best roasts around, and offers table service during this time so you can really relax.
