What’s the best thing about being a student…? New friends? Care free mid-week nights out? The… education? Nope.
It’s the discounts.
If you’re lucky enough to hold an elusive “NUS card” read on: we’re going to show you just some of the very best deals that are ready and waiting for you to take advantage of right here in Nottingham. Last week we looked at some of the best restaurants for students and in the final installment of our mini-series, we look at all the other great places you can make the best of your student card in the city centre!
Everything Else
Bliss Hair
When money’s low, haircuts can be one of the first things to go. Thankfully there’s plenty of Nottingham salons with student deals that will help you cut the cost of keeping your hair in tip-top condition.
Book an appointment with Bliss (located in Sherwood – a short bus ride from the city centre) and you can get 50% off your first visit and 20% off any subsequent visits. They also do half price hair colouring on Wednesdays and offer late deals to help fill last minute slots.
Student card needed? Yes for 50% off first visit and 20% off subsequent visits, no for half price hair colouring and late deals.
Nottingham Cars
Taking a taxi is a bit of a luxury when you’re strapped for cash but sometimes, they’re a necessity – especially when cabbing it is the only way to be sure you make it home safely.
With that in mind, get this number in your phone: 01159 700 700. It’s for Nottingham Cars who offer a 10% student discount but more importantly, a “Student Emergency Fare Home” – if you find yourself with no money and no way to get home they will take you – they’ll just retain your student ID until the fare owed is paid.
